If you don’t see your value, other people won’t see your value. If you sell yourself short, other people won’t go the extra mile for you.
Not everyone is motivated by price. Often, if something is valuable, we will pursue it until we get it. How valuable do you think you are?

We are all capable of achieving that which our mind is able to conceive.
If we hold ourselves back, how else can we ever experience anything, and in turn, how else can we ever expect to learn anything?
Yes, we can learn from the experiences and mistakes of others, but I can’t imagine any athlete ever earning a gold medal from watching videos of other champions on YouTube. Sooner or later, we’re going to need to get in the game and learn ourselves.

I love how Ralph Waldo Emerson puts it: “The world is all gates, all opportunities.”
The very nature of opportunities are like gates: we have to take them and open them for ourselves. Occasionally, someone will open a gate for us, but we still need to walk through to see for ourselves what lies beyond the gate.
The question, then, is this: are we even aware that there are gates waiting to be opened? Or are we all just traveling on this “voyage of discovery,” so to speak, without looking at that private chart, content to just let the winds take us where they may?

We play many roles in our day-to-day goings-on. We are sons, daughters, fathers, mothers, brothers, sisters, citizens, workers, lovers, givers, receivers, up-and-comers and soon-to-be-goners in this ever-changing, ever-evolving, never-stagnant cycle called life.
Strip off the roles, and what do you have left?
What sets you apart?

Honestly, I would respect a person’s decision to just stop learning, to just go through the motions of life if he or she wished. That ultimately is his or her decision to make; it is his or her life, after all.
I have no sympathy, however, at people who belittle others who attempt to glean lessons out of every experience, and do their utmost best to steal the joy out of learning from success or failure. There is no place for crab mentality in the great learning experience that is life; I’ve found the crabbiest of the lot are those with the most bitterness and least desire to learn from new experiences.
Let’s not prevent people from learning; let’s encourage them! Or as Albert Einstein put it, “I never teach my pupils; I only attempt to provide the conditions in which they can learn.”

There is freedom in authenticity, friends. Even if the context of this original “Hamlet” quote is more self-serving - Polonius’ advice to Laertes had a more “be loyal to yourself” implication - the fundamental point behind it is sound: the person who is true to himself is in the best position to be true to others.
Career-wise, the person who truly knows himself well holds an advantage over the person who has no idea what he is about. How can you “sell” yourself if you don’t know what you’re selling?

Here’s the truth: no one in the world is like you, so why on earth would you want to be someone else?
Remember this: there is value in you; the challenge now is to let the whole world see exactly how valuable you are. Stars are stars because they shine brighter than everything else around them.
So what are you waiting for? Start shining!

If we don’t invest emotionally in what we do, from where will all the passion for our work come? If we love what we do, we will always be open to learning something new from it, every day.
Live, love, learn. It’s not hard to remember.
